Blacklight Alibi

Blacklight alibi

I need a home, you need a lie

Picked your daughter off a screen

Slipped into a life wiped clean

Borrowed ribbons, borrowed years

You checked my face, I checked your tears

His canvas wears a second face

I fit the frame, I take her place

Chin up, eyes dry

Let them buy the lie

Hold still, look sweet

Keep the story nice and neat

Blacklight alibi

I need a home, you need a lie

Cover story kept airtight

SMILE! Make the wrong girl look right

Blacklight alibi

You dress your grief, I wear the lie

Tie the little ribbons tight

SMILE! Make the wrong girl look just right

Your boy played rough, your girl went cold

You kept the son, the story sold

Your grief looks good, your hands look clean

Put back the child, reset the scene

Don’t break the frame, don’t spoil the view

You need your lie, I need it too

Chin up, eyes dry

Let them buy the lie

Hold still, look sweet

Keep the story nice and neat

Blacklight alibi

I need a home,you need a lie

Cover story kept airtight

SMILE! Make the wrong girl look right

Blacklight alibi

You dress your grief, I wear the lie

Tie the little ribbons tight

SMILE! Make the wrong girl look just right

Knife in the cop

Your shots make him stop

Crossbow; rich boy’s chest

His blade does the rest

Roof edge; you fall

False teeth; no love at all

One shove; goodbye
